Cosmetic Surgery at Christmas

Cosmetic Surgery at Christmas ?

11/16/2012

It is amazing just how many people choose to have cosmetic surgery at Christmas time. They do so for all sorts of reasons but the principle ones are as follows

1. They have two weeks off work and time to recover
2. It is an opportunity to take advantage of unused holiday time during the year
3. They take advantage of discounts offered around Christmas time by Cosmetic surgery clinics and Plastic Surgeons
4. Its a christmas Present to themselves
5. Its a christmas present from someone else
6. Its the start of a plan to improve themselves in the new year.

If you are thinking about having cosmetic surgery in December, and especially near christmas you need to think and plan carefully.
Before you take the plunge consider the following first

1. You are likely to be bruised, swollen and sore. Are you sure you dont mind spending christmas like this ?
2. What would the effect on your family be at christmas if you are not at your best ?
3. You should avoid alcohol for a period of time following your surgery
4. Certain procedures may also impace on that you can eat, eg, gastric band surgery or gastric balloon surgery

Do your homeowrk in terms of your Plastic Surgeon or clinic. Check what level of aftercare cover is going to be available to you over the christmas period. If you develop a complication, or even if you just need to ask a question, you will want to know that someone is going to be on the other end of the phone for you.

I tend to find that many Plastic Surgeons stop operating after the second week in December. They do this to reduce the risk of being called out to see a Patient over the christmas festivities.
On the other hand there are Surgeons who prefer to work right through the festive period and take advantage of gaining more Patients whilst their colleagues are taking it easy.

In terms of cost, there is no doubt that clinics and Surgeins do tend to sharpen their pencils a bit at this time of year, and there are some very competitive prices to be obtained for may procedures. If you are on a budget, this can be a good time to take advtange of the lowest prices.

It goes without saying that you need to plan for a fairly relaxing christmas if you are having surgery just beforehand. You need to give yourself time to recover and get over the anaesthetic apart from anything else.

If you are motivated then go ahead
